Hi Lindsey, This could be caused by too much flour in the dough. When measuring flour, use the spoon & level method. Do not scoop the flour out of the container/bag. Doing so leaves you with excess flour in the cookie dough.

One question though. My chocolate chip cookies always end up cake like, even with following this recipe to a T. Any idea why?

I thought it was because I used spreadable butter instead of unsalted butter so I tried the recipe again with the right butter and the second time the same thing happened! What am I doing wrong? 🙁

When I make chocolate chip cookies, I like to use a 2 times more dark sugar to white sugar ratio. Ex. 1 cup dark brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar. Also a teaspoon of high quality espresso powder (not instant espresso!) helps to add a little something extra!

These are the best cookies I have ever tasted! I’ve tried probably a hundred different CCC recipes but never found quite the “perfect” one. Until now!! The flavor is insanely good and they are so moist and chewy, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this recipe sooner!! This will now be my go to recipe for CCC!!

These are the best cookies I’ve ever had in my entire life. I used salted butter instead (1:1) with less salt than the recipe says, half dark half light brown sugar, and milk chocolate and caramilk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. Used a mug to perfectly round them out once they were fresh out of the oven. Topped with more chips. Picture perfect and absolutely DIVINE.
