Maybe if I’d left the butter in for a minute longer? I wonder if the brand of butter and moisture content are part of the reasons for the mixed results.

Small pieces will warm and soften faster than big pieces. Right now I have 4 Tbsp of butter, cut into pieces, softening on my countertop on a piece of parchment paper! It’s not quite as fast, but much faster than waiting for a whole stick.

Water barely warm after 2 min on high, butter still pretty solid after ten min in microwave.

I do not have a microwave. I have always just got my cheese shredder out. Shred the butter and let sit for 10 minutes. The butter is perfect to add to any recipe that requires room temperature stick butter.

Hi Cecilia, we haven’t tried that method to know for sure. We fear the steam oven may make the butter a bit too soft, but let us know if you decide to do any experimenting.

I have a steam oven. Can I just stick it in a bowl and put it in my steam oven at a low temperature and add steam? What steam percentage would you recommend?
