Ever since I had my s’mores fix when I went camping a few weeks ago, I haven’t been able to get the ooey, gooey, marshmallow-y mess out of my mind. With a quick look through my pantry, I noticed I had half of a box of rice krispies and a sleeve of graham crackers. Ding ding ding! Description
If you like s’mores and rice krispie treats, you’ll flip for these easy chocolate squares. These s’mores rice krispie treats are easy to make—about 5 minutes of prep and 25 minutes to set—and you don’t even have to turn on the oven!
Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 1 bag (10.5-oz) miniature marshmallows
- 1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter
- 1 and 1/2 cups graham cracker pieces
- 3/4 cup mini or regular size chocolate chips
Instructions
- Spray 11×7-inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter. Pour in the marshmallows and constantly stir until melted with butter.
- Remove the pan from heat and pour in the rice krispie cereal and graham cracker pieces. Mix together well.
- Add chocolate chips and gently stir – you want most of the chips to hold their shape and not to completely melt. Immediately press rice krispie treats into prepared baking pan. Use the flat side of a spatula sprayed with nonstick spray to flatten the rice krispie treats down evenly.
- Refrigerate for about 25 minutes, then cut into 24 squares. If your treats are too cold to cut after 25 minutes in the fridge, let them sit out on the counter for a few minutes before cutting. I use a serrated knife dipped in warm water for neatly cut squares.

These were SO good & easy to make! Such a fun twist on a classic treat. Will be adding this to my dessert rotation 🙂
Thanks! Made these for my son’s class for his fifth, cowboy-themed birthday. They were a hit and he was so happy!
Very delicious and a nice change from plain rice krispie treats!
Could I make these in a 9×9 pan? Thank you!
Sure can! They will be extra thick.
Hi Miss Sally! I really love your site!! <3 I have a question though, how do I store these bars if I want to eat them in the next few days? Also, how long can the rice krispies in the bars stay crispy? Many thanks!
Hi Thea – I usually store them at rom temperature for about 5 days. They stay chewy and soft for that amount of time. Cover them tightly. Enjoy!
Hi there .. Im allergic to dairy so can i use dark chocolate that i cut up into chunks instead
You sure can. Enjoy!
I LOVE your site so much! I’m ALWAYS on here. Just made these and they’re so YUMMY.
Have you ever done a rice krispies treat recipe that features nutella?!? That would be it for me 😉
Hey Amanda! I’m so glad you like my wbesite and am on it often. That makes me happy to hear! I do not currently have a rice krispie treat with Nutella on my website. I do have Nutella granola and nutella puppy chow if either of those interest you!
