These salty sweet candy corn pretzel treats are so simple to make!
I have a lot of fun with pretzels and chocolate. The possibilities are endless, like these cookie dough pretzel bites! And for Halloween? A little candy corn action.
The idea of these is rather simple and they come together SO quickly. In fact, can we even call this a recipe? A “non-recipe recipe” if you will. Simply melt a Hershey’s Kisses Hug on a pretzel and top with a candy corn. Done. You could also get a little crazy and top with a M&M, Reese’s Pieces, or even a pecan. Or try Hershey’s Kisses in other varieties like dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or caramel. These would also work wonderfully with the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Hershey’s Kisses.
Whichever candy topper you chose and whichever Hershey’s Kisses flavor you’re using, be sure to have all of your ingredients ready to go when you begin because you’ll have to move fairly quickly. Once the hug is melted on the pretzel, press the candy corn immediately on top or else it won’t stick. When my candy corns were in place, I put the pretzel hugs in the refrigerator so that the chocolate would set quickly.

Description
An easy Halloween treat! These salty sweet candy corn pretzel treats are so simple to make. This recipe makes however many you want.
Ingredients
- 24 circle or square-shaped pretzels
- 24 Hershey’s Kisses Hugs (or any flavor Kiss)
- 24 candy corn candies
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250°F (121°C).
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Align pretzels on the sheet. Unwrap Hugs and place one on each pretzel. Stick in the oven until the hug begins to melt down. Mine takes about 4 minutes.
- While the Hugs are melting in the oven, get your candy corn ready because you will have to move quickly once the pretzels are out of the oven.
- Remove pretzel hugs from oven and gently press a candy corn down on each one. The Hug should flatten out when you press the candy corn on it. If it is not flattening out, place the pretzel hugs back in the oven for 30 more seconds.
- Let the pretzel hugs cool completely and let the chocolate set for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator.

I can’t give a rating because it didn’t end up working. I tried to substitute Hershey hugs with regular Hershey kisses and they wouldn’t melt! It was very weird. They were in the oven for at least 20 minutes at 250 and no melting, they just sweat. They were very hot. Makes me suspicious as to what they are made of. So I’m excited to try this again using the hugs!
I made a comment on these way back in 2013 when my kids were still teens! We haven’t made them every year, but I’m making them again in the next day or so for both “kids” – youngest now a senior in college. There was some discussion of finding the round pretzels, but the “tiny twists” type made by Rold Gold and Snyder’s for instance work just fine. Also I notice this year Target has some very cute round-ish pretzels that look like spiderwebs so that’s my pick! These or the Halloween Bark also by Sally appeared at our house almost every year – I still have the candy eyes I use for the bark. Thank you!
I made these this morning & followed your directions exactly. They turned out absolutely adorable & were so easy! The most tedious part is unwrapping the Hugs :). Thanks for a cute idea, Sally! I’m already envisioning red & green M & Ms for Christmas, candy hearts for Valentines Day, Red, White and Blue Sixlets for Fourth of July…. Limitless possibilities!
PS I had to use square pretzels as I couldn’t find round. Still super cute. Where I live, the squares are called “waffle pretzels “.

I make mine with rolos candies at Christmas and push a holiday colored M & M candy onto each one. They would look cute with the fall colored M&Ms for Halloween.
